Amazing results from our On athletes: run2gether and Emma Pooley!
Above the clouds at Jungfraumarathon and World Mountain Running Championships.
Last weekend rocked: 2x gold, 4 x silver and 1x bronze for On athletes! Last Saturday the famous Jungfraumarathon at Interlaken took place. It's a tough race and demands a lot of mental strength and power. At this famous traditional Swiss race three On athletes won a medal. From the Kenyan Team run2gether finished Michieka Paul Maticha the race as first one in 3:01.57. 90 seconds later Geoffrey Gikuni Ndungu reached the finish line under enormous pain. He probably suffered from a rupture of muscle. The silver medal is at least a small consolation for the Jungfraumarathon champion 2013. We also had a real champion in the women's field: the British Cycling Champion Emma Pooley, who just switched from professional race cyling to triathlon. The graceful Emma already showed us the week before at the Powerman Zofingen that she is in top form. She beat the course record with incredible 16 minutes! Also the last weekend she could celebrate again. After a tough race, she finished with 3:29.07 and 3 minutes in advance as second woman. Last Sunday another big race took place: The World Mountain Running Championships in Tuscany, Italy. Run2gether athlete Lucy Wambui Murigi fought on her way up to the vice world champions title in an exciting and tough race ¬– well-deserved silver medal for the Kenyan runner. At the Wachau half marathon showed the team run2gether again what they are able to. Daniel Kinjua-Wanjiru reached a phenomenal new best time with 1:00.38. Behind him, Benard Kiplangat Bett finished second. And Mary Wangari Wanjohi made a great race in the women's field and won the bronze medal. What a big succesful weekend! We are thrilled and unbelievably proud of our On athletes! We wish you a fast regeneration phase and hope that also Geoffrey Gikuni gets well soon! You rock!! Congratulations!!! #runonclouds
