One victory, three podiums and a run course record – On athletes really gave it all.
On athletes showed a mind-blowing performance last weekend. Their effort led to a vicotry, three podiums and a run course record. There’s no doubt an enthralling season is going on. British cyclist, Emma Pooley and Olympic Gold Medalist, Nicola Spirig fighting for Gold in Rapperswil: For Emma Pooley, 70.3 Ironman Switzerland is another chance to fight against Nicola Spirig. Both were competing in May at Powerman duathlon in Zofingen and Nicola made the race back then. On sunday though, Emma could not been stopped. She not just finishes as second, but also runs a new course records – 9 minutes in advance of Nicola. Swiss Olympic Gold medalist Nicola Spirig can be proud of her bronze medal, as she reached the top 3, despite a chill and after having won over 3000m at the Swiss Athletics Club Champs only the day before. Besides Emma and Nicola, also Céline Schärer, Anna Halasz and Laura Zimmermann finish within the top ten. On the men’s side, Andi Dreitz winner of Fuerteventura and Mallorca comes in 6th. On the same time in Germany: He is finally back on track! Ironman World Champion, Frederik Van Lierde celebrates his first victory at the Extreme Man Düren and proves his top form. Peering over to Portugal – British Off Road triathlete Jacqui Slack showes once more what she is capable of. Claiming 2nd place at the XTerra Portugal World Tour Race, still smiling on the last meters of the run– what a stellar performance. Congrats to all you guys who rocked the weekend on clouds!
