On athletes successful at the XTERRA World Championship
On Sunday, October 26th, 800 athletes met the ultimate off-road triathlon challenge at the XTERRA World Championship on Maui, Hawaii. Five On athletes wearing the Cloudracer were at the cutting edge.
1.5-kilometer (1-mile) rough water swim, a 30.4-kilometer (18.89-miles) mountain bike and a 9.5-kilometer (5.9 miles) trail run: A demanding race for all participants. The five On athletes Ben Allen (AUS), Jacqui Slack (GBR), Asa Shaw (GBR), Michi Weiss (AUT) as well as the Mexican Maurizio Mendez reached strong results with their impressive performances. The Australian Ben Allen celebrated a great third place with his finishing time of 2:34:50 – once more on the podium! In a very strong field of female participants, Jacqui Slack crowned her successful season by finishing 9th with a time of 3:03:17. In 2:39:07 hours, Michi Weiss also reached the top 10. A small mishap in the transition area threw him back a little, so that in the end, he couldn’t meet his own goal for the race. But being one of the best 10 participants is remarkable and promising for the upcoming season. Asa Shaw, finishing 3:04:00 in 85th place, is leaving a successful season behind and focuses now on what’s lying ahead. The 18-year old Maurizio Mendez really lived up to his nickname „XTERRA Wonderboy“ In his first race as a pro athlete he reached a time of 2:38:55 – and a phenomenal 5th place. What a great race on a sunny, wonderful day on Hawaii! Congratulations to all our On athletes for rising to the challenge. We are proud to be part of your journey! We wish you a good regeneration phase and a successful new season! >>> Learn more about the Cloudracer >>> Meet our athletes
