Nicola Spirig is back – as if she were never gone
The Swiss Olympiagold-Winner had a successful Comeback.
Last weekend, Nicola Spirig made an international comeback at the ITUWorldcup in Cozumel, Mexico with a successful victory. Between the birth of her son yanis and the baby break, the topathlete put on her running shoes again. Just as we would expect, the Swiss confidently ranacross the finish line. The swimming discipline proved to be a little more challenging for Spirig as she lagged 30 seconds behind the first group between the transition from water to the bike. Soon enough however, she took the lead leaving no chance to her opponents. Five seconds ahead to the second-placed Sarah Groff from the USA, Nicola reached the finish line.
Her international Comeback could not have been better. She is satisfied with her effort despite hard conditions due to the mexican heat and the high air humidity: „It was very hard, but incredible. The crowd of specatators was fantastic. It was a big experience. I trained with my training group (teamTBB) forseveral days, so i could get used to the unusual conditions over here.“ The scottish Ritchie Nicholls from teamTBB, who won the race Alp d'Huez, ran on the eighth place. His Swiss team mate Celine Schaerer was on the 13th woman. Check out the full athlete-profile of Nicola Spirig
