Day 7: Frederik van Lierde & the shoe wonder

A day like no other, the day we have all been waiting for, THE race was on! As the crowd gathered beneath the heat to watch one of the toughest and inspiring endurance race to cheer on the brave fighters, our On team cheers on from the rooftop.
After 8 hours, 12 minutes and 29 seconds, Belgian Frederik van Lierde cloudraces the finish line and becomes the 35th World Ironman Champion and the 8th fastest time in Ironman history! Despite the complications faced during the race, Caroline Steffen finished in 5th place and Mary Beth Ellis, who bike crashed just four weeks before the Ironman World Championship, competed with a fighting spirit despite injury.
Suffice to say, with all this victorious energy, today, everyone is a winner. It's time to toast 'Sante!" and wave Mahalo to Kona 2013.
