Running Love (Why do you love it? When did you fall in love with it? What do you love about it?): I have been a very active person since I was able to walk but I became a sprinter starting at the age of 10. I started running distances about 8 years ago to help ease the stress of being a graduate student and working full-time. After a bad break-up, running became my anti-depressant. Running has become a metaphor for my life; I can push my body and overcome challenges I never thought possible much like the road blocks most people experience in everyday life. After a long run, I feel confident I can tackle any challenge because my mind is clear of doubts that were there before my run.
Spirit Animal: Elephant. Elephants are strong, compassionate, intelligent and gentle animals. Plus, they have excellent memories, a trait I have been fortunate to inherit.
What is your coveted superpower? Flying. I love heights and there is nothing better than standing at the top of a mountain you just dominated and looking at the view below.
In 3 words, how would your closest friends describe you? Compassionate, energetic, spunky
Words of wisdom for new runners? Walking out the front door is the hardest part. Every run may not be good but there is something good in every run. Running is not about being better than someone else, it’s about being better than you were yesterday.
What does representing On mean to you? I am a creature of habit. I have worn the same brand of shoes since I began running. I have tried other brands but always went back to what I was comfortable with. About two weeks before I was tackling the Marine Corps Marathon, Rock n’ Roll Philadelphia Half Marathon, and NYC Marathon in an 8-day span, I desperately needed new shoes. I was going with my “go-to” shoes until I spotted On Clouds. I tried them on and fell in love. Hesitant, I tried one of each shoe and ran on the treadmill and the difference I felt between the shoes was immense. I bought the On Clouds and ran a total of 75 miles (including two recovery runs) in 8 days. I felt incredible, no pain or soreness and I even PR-ed at Marine Corps and ran only 60 seconds slower at the NYC marathon. I feel so strongly about On shoes and the technology behind the design that I am blessed to be an ambassador!
Favorite distance to run? Despite being a marathoner, I love half marathons. It’s the perfect distance to really challenge myself.
