"The IM Zurich is definitely  special for me. I  did my very first triathlon here with the Ironkids when I was only 7 years old."

The Swiss Céline Schärer finished surprisingly second last year on her very first Ironman.

On athlete Céline Schärer starts this Sunday at Ironman Zurich as a young pro athlete.
Last year, she finished her very first Ironman as second – an amazing result. Despite her impressive efforts, she is looking forward to the race on sunday in a realistic way:

"My goal is to end up on the podium, I would also be satisfied with finishing within top 5 though."

Since Céline Schärer is still recovering from an injury, she sees the running discipline as the hardest.

"I could not really prepare myself properly for the running part, because of the injury at the beginning of the year. Especially long running courses weren't possible for me to train on. Nevertheless, the last two months I was able to train hard and I think I am well prepared considering the circumstances."

Céline knows her strengths and also how she has to deal with her weaknesses. From that perspective, her strategy for the upcoming Ironman Zurich is definite:

"I am a good swimmer and I will for sure fight and swim fast to have a lead on the transition to the bike course. On the bike and running course, I will do my own race and try to not think about the competitors."

We cross our fingers for you, Céline! Rock on Clouds!
